OUR COMMITMENT TO
THE ENVIRONMENT

we concern about the impact of the environment

OUR PLANET, OUR FUTURE

Fast fashion comes at an astonishing environmental and social cost. While the impacts of the fashion industry in terms of pollution, water use, carbon emissions, human rights are increasing, the need for a shift to sustainable fashion is evident.Increasingly, people expect businesses to step up and help tackle social and environmental issues – and many are responding.

A growing number of companies are demonstrating that it’s possible to use their business to make a positive contribution to society and our environment. In fact, it can be a business opportunity – a way of adding value to their brand, engaging consumers and employees and building trust while avoiding risks and securing their long-term viability.

LESS IMPACT MATERIALS ARE OUR PRIORITY

Gewala uses many materials. We research and create Material Impact profiles, and break down the environmental, social and supply impacts of each material. As a result, we're prioritizing recycled polyester, nylon, recycled leather, polyurethane, zinc, biodegradable plastic. These efforts will prevent our supply chain making more than 900 tons of pollute waste.

TOXIC-FREE / NICKEL-FREE MATERIALS

We are aware the production of materials upstream is very resource-intensive, as the consumption of water, energy, and chemicals has a major impact on the environment and people who live around it.

That's why we make sure the substances which compose our products are toxic-free and safe for workers, customers, and the environment.

We use nickel-free hardware

Our polyester and nylon are all AZO-free and phthalate-free

Our PU material is compliant with European REACH regulation's standards.

We closely work with several test companies and material suppliers to ensure and certify materials are indeed toxic-free and in compliance with our clients' testing requirements.

ENVIRONMENT
AND HEALTH

Human health and well-being are intimately linked to the state of the environment.

In the post-epidemic era, "health" has become the topic of most concern to people. But as people in the handbag industry, we should not only care about the health of ourselves and human beings, but also the overall health of the earth's ecology.

GLOBAL RECYCLED STANDARD

We are now GRS Certified,it means we can provide you with a Scope Certificate (SC), and Transaction Certificate (TC) at the product level for any of you orders containing at least 20% of recycled content.

WHAT IS GRS

The Global Recycle Standard is an "international, voluntary, full product standard that sets out requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions", according to the GRS

Developped in 2018, Global Recycle Standard (GRS) certification verifies a product really does have recycled materials. GRS certification is administered by the Textile Exchange, a global non-profit dedicated to driving changes in sourcing and manufacturing and ultimately reducing the textile industry's impact on the world's water, soil, air, and people.

WHAT DOES GRS FOR

GRS certification ensures that when Factory like us say we are sustainable, the word actually means something. But GRS certification goes beyond traceability and labeling. It also verifies safe and equitable working conditions, along with environmental and chemical practices used in production.

OUR COMMITMENT

At Gewala, we take our commitments to environmental, social and societal responsibility very seriously – not just because it is the right thing to do, but because it is central to our business growth and transformation. Now, all over the world, our products and services empower customers and communities to consume less energy and conserve resources.
